The Compulsive Gardener & Painter by Joy Tate

"My name is Joy Tate. I am an artist who specializes in painting with oils and some acrylic. In my style, you will find that it is filled with bold colors and imagination. My ultimate source of inspiration is God and what he has done in my life. Through this relationship I find myself in a creative place using the beauty of natural elements such as flowers, the woods and the compelling way that light has a way of bringing out the best of everything. Using this and a pure sense of joy that whimsy brings me, you will see this inspiration woven throughout all of my current work. I began painting more than 16 years ago as a hobby to help process my emotions. Painting has provided a very positive therapeutic outlet for me over the years, so much that I now share that passion with others through teaching regular art classes.

The process of my work typically begins while daydreaming in my garden or the woods. From there, I take these ideas to the studio
and through the use of many techniques learned over the years, a new painting is born"
