Artist’s Statement:

I am a mixed media artist.   Most of my art incorporates vintage or found objects to provide form, texture and interest.  My work has been shown in multiple galleries and non-traditional venues since 2013.  I am honored to have been selected by Wyoming Creative Arts Community to have my first solo exhibition shown in the new lower gallery at Hallberg Center of the Arts.

My favorite place to create is on the open deck of my lake home as long as the season allows.  When not working on my art or at my “white collar job”,  I am spending time with family, taking photos while exploring the woods or lakeshore, fishing, attending auctions, or visiting yard sales or thrift shops for interesting items to begin or finish a piece.

I am fascinated by Dadaism and surrealism.  Like the surrealist, Joseph Cornell, I am an introvert and a collector.   As an introvert, most of Cornell’s art (and feelings) were contained in a box yet told a story in a playful way.  Some of my artwork is highly personal to me, but others are just for fun.    Ideas can come from random thoughts, the objects used, a play on words, and sometimes the final piece begins as one idea but develops into something else as I work.

I hope you enjoy Visions of a Retrovert and find a memory or personal connection within the art you see.
