Ever since I could grip a crayon, I have longed to create art. For me, art is a mirror. It grasps at the edges of our imagination, breathing life into our thoughts, until the art that we create or hang in our homes reflects how we see the world. It reveals our beliefs and desires, sharing them deeper than words, and I love using it to help us marvel in delight at the world around us.

I specialize in soft pastel on suedeboard. Soft pastels are like high quality artist chalks — they are simply pure pigment held together with a little bit of binder, so they are colorfast and will never fade. Suedeboard has a nap, like velvet, and it allows me to create incredible detail while mimicking the softness and depth of fur. My favorite part is capturing eyes. In the eyes we discover life and personality.

I currently live in Wisconsin with my husband, Dan, our dog Anna and our horse Ella.

In addition to wildlife, I also create portraits of people’s pets from their photographs. Contact me to start your own unique portrait today!
