Margery Peterson

I paint wild places to preserve them in my mind. Wild places feed that wild, creative place inside, urging us to take a risk, do good things. My paintings bring nature indoors where we can bask in it, reflect on it and be inspired to protect it..
I freelanced as a journalist/creative writer for many years. But when it came to expressing how I felt about the environment, words weren’t enough. As I recaptured my earlier love of painting, childhood memories came flooding back. Wandering the wooded shores of Lake Minnetonka, I absorbed nature as if through a kaleidoscope of changing light, moisture, angles and seasons. My paintings reflect this fusion of abstract and reality.
