Call for Artists, Writers, and Composers – 2021, 2022 Information

Application deadline is February 17, 2021. We will limit the number of applications for the writer residencies to 40 applicants, so we may close the application period early.

The following residency time slots will be offered in the January 1, 2021 call for writers and composers.
- September 22 – October 6, 2021, Writer residency partnered with Harbor Springs Festival of the Book
- November 3 – 21, 2021, Songwriter/Composer residency partnered with Springfed Arts – Lamb’s Retreat for Songwriters and Big Water Creative Arts (2-week residency with flexible dates between Nov. 3, 2021 and November 21, 2021)
- January 14 – 28, 2022, Writer residency
- February 4 – 18, 2022, Writer residency
- March 11 – 25, 2022, Writer residency
The next open call for visual artists will start in mid November 2021 for available residency time slots in the spring and summer of 2022. For the summer of 2021, we are rebooking residencies for selected artists that chose to do so. We have one designated residency time slot for the artist that is selected through the Elevating Diverse Voices – Curated Residency in partnership with Juana Williams. The two remaining spring/summer 2021 visual artist residency time slots will be filled by invitation. Consideration will be given to candidates that have previously applied to our program.
Residency includes:
- A one- week, or two-week ,or three-week residency stay depending on the program selected. Most residency time slots are two weeks long.
- Use of the 1,150 sqft residence and a 24×14 detached studio(for visual artists). Housekeeping services are not provided and the resident is asked to leave the residence and studio space clean and in good order.
- Food is provided. The residence has a fully stocked and well equipped kitchen for the resident to prepare meals. We provide homemade baked goods and jams, locally sourced ingredients, and seasonal vegetables from the host’s garden when available.
- $500.00 stipend
