Connections A Community Collaborative  with Gallery 96 Art Center and the Hallberg Center for the Arts in the Freemore Gallery at the Hallberg Center for the Arts

Gallery 96 Art Center

Gallery 96 Art Center is a visual arts organization based in Shoreview serving Shoreview and the northern suburbs.  Their mission is to display the art of members of the community and to provide education about art and its many forms.  They currently have over 80 members.

Gallery 96 Art Center was conceived in 1997 when a small group of Shoreview residents, interested in the visual arts, began discussing the need for an area art center where emerging and maturing artists could meet other artists, enter juried competition, and find a place to show their work.  Since the organization's inaugural exhibition in October 1998, members have participated in juried exhibitions several times a year at the Shoreview Ramsey County Public Library. Gallery 96 also curates quarterly themed exhibitions in seven glass cases in the Fireside Room of the Shoreview Community Center and facilitates shows by its members on the walls of local businesses.

A quarterly newsletter, Gallery 96 Views, offers members informative articles about art, reviews of current shows, exhibition announcements, and informative articles about art. Art Discussion, an informal monthly session held at the Shoreview Community Center, gives members opportunities to share their work and receive friendly feedback.  Community outreach has also included interactive art projects at the Slice of Shoreview, photography, plein air painting and portrait classes as well as Raku pottery demonstrations at the Shoreview Farmers Market and participation in Shoreview's Winter Indoor Market program.

The Hallberg Center for the Arts

The Hallberg Center for the Arts, nestled in Wyoming, MN just north of the Twin Cities, is owned and operated by the Wyoming Area Creative Arts Community.  In 2015, this young organization raised enough money to purchase this historic old church building with the vision of turning it into a center for the arts. It's named after it's biggest donor, the Hallberg Family Foundation.

Today, the Hallberg Center for the Arts hosts new exhibits, concerts, and classes every month, bringing in artists from throughout the Midwest to share their artwork in this unique venue.

WACAC Mission (adopted April 19, 2012):

Our mission is to encourage creative expression, promote networking of local artists of all ages, and champion a learning environment that builds community participation in the arts.
