Richard Hane
Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, as one of twelve children, Richard Hane’s journey as an artist was shaped by a connection to his Midwestern roots. He pursued his passion for visual storytelling at the College of Associated Arts, earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May of 1972. This foundational training launched a long and fulfilling career as an Art Director, where he brought creativity and leadership to numerous advertising agencies, truly loving the collaborative and dynamic nature of his work.
Upon retiring, Richard returned to the joy of fine art, finding his true sanctuary in the natural world. From the quiet comfort of the log building at his home in Stacy, Minnesota, he dedicated himself to pastel painting. Surrounded by the woods, his artwork captured the essence of the great outdoors—translating the subtle shifts of light, the rich textures of the landscape, and the enduring beauty of the wilderness onto paper.
Though Richard passed away from dementia in 2023, his spirit lives on through the expressive, soulful landscapes he left behind. This exhibition celebrates not only his technical mastery of the pastel medium but his lifelong devotion to capturing the quiet majesty of the natural world.
