“Seeing There”  -  Deceptively Straightforward Images

A solo exhibit by Peter Genheimer

in the Freemore Gallery

My goal as a photographic artist is to create images that are both artistically and technically excellent. I try to distill what I see to create a cohesive image. I refer to this as “taking the noise out”.  I follow a process that goes beyond “taking pictures” and that includes conception, capture, post processing, printing and presentation. In each stage of this process  I apply principles of design and techniques of photography to compose images that will draw viewers in emotionally.

Much of my work is in Black and White.  My B&W landscape images follow a well established tradition of realism where I strive to capture the essence of “place” that transcends time.

Less traditionally I extend this B&W medium to a series of bird images. This allows me to explore the incredible tonal and texture nuances that color often overpowers. I find this a welcome quiet, introspective contrast to the typical color bird photography genre.

I am also working on a series of cityscape images that are more graphical in content where I leverage color as a key design element.

I have been practicing photography for over 40 years. I hope you can see my unique voice in this exhibit and that you will connect on a personal level.
