Hallberg Center for the Arts - Freemore Stage
Songwriters in the Round #42
The Songwriters in the Round Series is proudly sponsored by the Hallberg Family Foundation
Every month, the Wyoming Area Creative Arts Community brings in three singer/songwriters to perform at the Hallberg Center for the Arts in an "In The Round" format, performing their original pieces of music. The gallery provides an intimate setting dedicated for an interactive concert with the artists and the stories behind their writings.
Admission is Free.
January 25th at 7pm, the Songwriters in the Round Series continues
with its 42nd installment at the Freemore Gallery Stage and features TWO DUO performances!
Karlos and Julie Weisenhorn
Songwriting came late in life to Julie Weisenhorn. Church choir, piano lessons, clarinet in the school band, and a musical family all fostered her love of many kinds of music. For her 38th birthday, husband and musical muse Karlos gave her an Epiphone guitar so she could play the songs she loved to sing. Julie is a believer that everything happens for a reason. In 1996, a garage party resulted in the formation of their first band, The Betatones, and an evening walk in Excelsior, MN, in 2011 led to the creation of their current band, The Abiders. Julie writes songs about the people she loves, earthly challenges, and sometimes a little botany. Julie and Karlos reside in Mound, MN, with their dog Zola, subject of a song-in-the-works "Malamutie Cutie". Anything can be the subject of a song, right?
Marv Gohman and Kathleen Campbell (Kaat)
Marv Gohman has played in numerous bands including The Rembrandts, and local favorites GB Leighton, Mick Sterling, and Hitchville. Marv’s shows and travels have landed him showcasing everything from backyard parties to the highly popular festivals like WE Fest and opening for so many great artists such as Willie Nelson, Carrie Underwood, Los Lobos. A premier singer/songwriter, his mastery of multiple instruments adds to his showmanship whether solo or duet. Marv is performing as a duet with the talented up and coming singer/songwriter, guitarist Kate Campbell. Kaat, whose stage name is Kaatwalk, is a full-time musician and a singer/songwriter in the Twin Cities area and is making her second appearance to the Freemore stage. Her song Monster won the songwriting contest at the International Model and Talent Association in Orlando, Florida in 2021. She is recording songs with Walking Phoenix and recording locally in addition to playing shows both as a solo artist and with Marv.
