Born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa where I was exposed to our local art community while still in grade school.  Summers were spent in art classes through our local community art classes.  A primary instructor was Dr. Kitzman who was a well respected art teacher.  In Jr. High I was taught by Mrs. Virginia Nutt who was also a prominent figure in our local art association.  She brought me into the organization at age 14 and it was there that I had my first art show.  In high school I had a well respected regional artist, Mrs. Jesse Loomis and I was schooled in art history, water color painting, jewelry making, and sculpture.  I attended the Univ. of N. Iowa after graduation and graduated with a minor in art.  For the next 40+ years there was marriage, a 4 year military career, two children, grad school (MBA), work, and raising a family.  Did not do any art work the entire time.  In 2012 I retired and that Christmas I received a small wooden art box with acrylic paints.  And so began my return to the art community.  Four years thereafter I was teaching art classes through our local community ed department in the Chisago Lakes school district.  Have expanded my art into commercial areas as well as different media such as paintings on metal sawblades, signage, Chairs on 8 campaign, and the barn quilt campaign.  I primarily work in oil and acrylics and currently and my work is split about 60/40 with consignment work and things I want to do.  Still enjoy exploring new areas and ways to paint and always interested in helping teach others the joys of painting.
