Venue: The Uncommon Loon Brewery in Chisago City, MN
The show is a collection of art work created over the past 6 years (with one exception) and consists of oil and acrylic paintings/prints and assorted Swedish Dala Horses and Gnomes. IThe theme behind this exhibit is "the story behind the painting" and there is a booklet detailing the inspiration behind about 20 of the paintings and prints in the show. Also available is a photo album detailing all of my art work since 2013 along with examples of the art work produced by my art students. There are prints available for sale for all the pictures hung on the wall. Prior to 2013 I had gone for 42 years without touching a paint brush and I have spent the last 6 years re-educating myself on painting. For the past 4 years I have been involved in teaching art classes (elementary school, middle school, and adult evening classes through our local Community Education program and I find this very fulfilling in retirement. Being a veteran I have done several paintings incorporating military themes and focusing on friends and high school classmates who served during the Vietnam War period. Cudos to the Uncommon Loon for providing me with this opportunity to present my art to the public.
