Narratives by Brush & Lens
A fine art exhibition by
oil painter Keith Dixon and photographer Dee Ann Sibley.
This art show features the work of two artists who use narrative to explore the human condition with two different mediums.
The "Brush" of figurative oil painter Keith Dixon takes inspiration from the "Old Masters" of the European Renaissance - considered the height of narrative painting by many. "Specifically, I take inspiration from the late works of Rembrandt and Titian. Being “original,” experimental, or with-the-times; the foundational tenets of Modernism – are of little importance to me. I’m looking for timeless, universal themes rendered with common materials and techniques used by painters for centuries."
The "Lens" of photographer Dee Ann Sibley reflects a curiosity towards the world we live in. She is fascinated by the human condition and elements of what we chose to leave behind when we no longer see value in an object, person or place and it has outlived its usefulness. She captures images that tell stories, intrigues the viewer leaving them wanting more. "I consider myself a collector of faces. I specialize in Fine Art Black & White Portraits. The thing that sets me apart from others is my ability to capture images that tell a story in a single shot. When working with people I strive to create an authentic image and not a photo of who the person is when they clean up."

As a photographer, my work reflects a curiosity towards the world I live in. I am fascinated by the human condition and elements of what we choose to leave behind when we no longer see value in an object, person or place and it has outlived its usefulness. To the masses it is no longer beauty and does not deserve a second look. My photography captures images that tell stories, intrigues the viewer leaving them wanting more.
