Play it Again

an art show, inspired by a dying piano

Sponsored by White Bear Acura Subaru

A collaborative art exhibit featuring work inspired by the piano that once entertained generations of a family, and now resides in the elements, decorating an old church building, now known as the Hallberg Center for the Arts.

Are you an artist, a songwriter, a poet or writer and would like to be a part of this unique art exhibit?

Artists are invited to visit the old piano, which rests in front of the Hallberg Center for the Arts.  Look at it.  Become inspired.  Then tell a story through a painting, a drawing, a sculpture, a poem, a story, or even a song.  Incorporation of another or different musical instrument is acceptable.

This show is open to all artists and there is no entry fee.

We do require that any 2D piece submitted for display, be framed or appropriately presented, and ready to hang in a gallery (sawtooth or wire is acceptable.

The deadline for submission is June 17th, 2016.

Play it Again...  A Call for Artists!

This June art show is a themed art exhibit, and is open to all artists, member or not.  The theme for this show comes from a piano that decorates the exterior of the Hallberg Center for the Arts.  After decades in a family, this piano could no longer be tuned, and instead of being sent to a dump, was given a second life as a lawn ornament at an art center.  The elements have been cruel, and each month, the appearance of this once beautiful instrument morphs further into something resembling a post apocalyptic relic.

We want your interpretation of this piano (or even some other dying musical instrument).  It can be a drawing, a painting, photograph, a sculpture, a poem, a song, or almost anything that conveys your impression.

We've included some photos of this piano.  If you want, come by the Hallberg Center for the Arts at 5521 East Viking Blvd. in Wyoming, MN.   Bring your camera, your sketch pad, or your paint and an easel.

This show opens on June 23, 2016 and the deadline for entry is June 17, 2016

No Charge for entry.  WACAC membership IS NOT required.  Enter up to 4 pieces.  Number of accepted entries will depend on the number of participants, the sizes of artwork, and the space available.  Decisions will be made by the WACAC Events Committee.
