A Solo Exhibition by Suyao Tian

The Hallberg Center for the Arts in Wyoming, MN  is proud to present “Internal Nomad” by internationally renowned artist Suyao Tian opening on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021 at 5521 East Viking Blvd. from 4pm – 8pm and runs through August 14, 2021

Suyao Tian is living and working in the Twin Cities as an artist, designer and independent curator,  She had a double BFA degree in fine art and music education, and MFA in design from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Painting is her own language to connect to the world, and her way to find and connect the similarities in our soul that we all share.

She creates a unique style of watercolor painting, mainly using watercolor medium while also using mixed media with different pen marks to define the details of each painting to give the audience layers and depth of the painting.

Her creative process is to extract the fragments of memory and separate, reorganize and integrate them. This process is her communication with them, and a process of self-release and expression. These peculiar images often appear in her memory, dreams and subconscious imaginations, so she uses abstraction to catch a moment, feeling, and unclear form when they appear in her mind.

Suyao Tian

“I create a peaceful and safe space that invites all people’s mind to wander and explore but is not an overtly symbolic object to suggest the direction."   ------Suyao

'I believe inspiring people to find themselves is the most important function of her work and its place within society. This introspection is critical to society because no one is capable of full peace and love for others without first understanding themselves, and it is her hope that her works provide such a peace to all who see it"    ----- Suyao

Meet the Artist Reception

Suyao will be on site for the Opening Ceremonies of “Internal Nomad” starting at 4pm on July 22nd at 4pm  at the Hallberg Center for the Arts with complementary refreshments for visitors.  She will be on-hand to discuss her early childhood development in China into becoming a creative, driven artist and to her ongoing successes as an artist and innovative designer in the Twin Cities and to discuss her latest exhibit.
