A little about the artists...

Linda Snouffer -

My botanical printmaking process is very tactile. Using simple brayers and brushes, ink is applied to grasses and leaves; the inked plants are hand pressed onto pigment infused surfaces such as Sumi paper, tissue, muslin, or organza. Through these low tech means, I create multifaceted landscape compositions of common plants.

My eyes are drawn to the sky, which is the foundation of my landscapes. The sky brings it all to life, giving my work depth and dimension. Prairies have a rich history; they beckon me to recreate them and share their stories in my printmaking. I admire the structure of prairie plants, which, when healthy, have root systems three times the length of the stalk height to draw flood waters into aquifers and to draw water to the plant, persevering through drought periods.

Diane LaMere -

Diane is primarily an outdoor painter or plain air painter. With Minnesota as her home state, Diane has found many beautiful images to paint from its wealth of lakes, trees, fields and farms. But she has also put brush to canvas in Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, France, Hawaii, Mexico, Montana, South Dakota and Utah. She prefers to work directly from Life and enjoys the communion with Mother Nature saying "It engages all the senses. You feel the breeze, smell the air, hear the birds, as you see the beauty before you."

In the tradition of the impressionists, she strives to capture the fleeting light with expressive, painterly brushstrokes. To do that, she needs to paint quickly and decisively before the light changes and the shadows move. Her indoor studio work is done from field studies, reference photos, memory and imagination.
